Marketing Technology Landscape Rewritten (again)

Scott Brinker at the Chief Marketing Technologist Blog recently released an updated version of the widely circulated landscape of Marketing Technology. The 2014 version has a few updates but also plenty of omissions.

It comes with one main caveat: this graphic is not comprehensive. It is just a sample, albeit a large one, of the many different kinds of software available to marketers today. There are many more companies — indeed, entire categories — that were not included, merely due to the constraints of time and space.

And by the time you read this, it will inevitably be out of date due to new launches, re-launches, expansions, exits, and mergers. The pace of change in this field is breathtaking.

  1. I've never seen this before, but it's very useful. It would be cool if he had made the names clouds so they're relative influence could be judged. Moz on the same level as Bitly?

    1. he tried to divide it up into six classes of marketing technology: Internet, Infrastructure, Marketing Backbone Platforms, Marketing Middleware
Marketing Experiences, and Marketing Operations with the color coding of each area, and i guess you get a indication of size by looking at how many companies are battling it out in each area.

however, that is not he whole truth, and a relative size scale based on perhaps market value would be really interesting! or perhaps measured in traffic, that would also be interesting.

my biggest take away from these maps/footprints are always the scatter though. there are just so many products out there - it a jungle :P.
